CASEY - Colic / sad ending

At the end of July - Casey was suffering from colic, which turned into a twist in her large intestine and she didn’t make it. Thank you for your prayers. She is no longer in pain.

Unfortunately, Casey was moving from foster home to adopt/permanent home that very weekend. She had also been suffering from several large abscesses. We would medicate/soak/wrap and then discover more of them.

This morning, she was down in her stall and thrashing....after several hours of vet help....consultations etc...it was discovered she had a twisted large intestine. At age 21 and barely able to walk on her hind hooves...we elected to end her suffering. She's had a hell of a week.......as we all have - feverishly working to rid her of her pain.

She was heavily medicated while everyone worked on her this morning....so at least she had a reprieve from that for a while. The outcome would be the same, no matter what else we could think of to do....so with many tears we had to say goodbye.

John and I are just hunkered down for the rest of the day.....

We thank you for all your love, support, and well wishes.
